For the future, most teachers will teach in front of the screen instead of in the classroom. For educators who don't know distance learning, knowing where to start can be a challenge. 1.Continue teaching online
With the closure of schools, our whole school is conducting distance lessons with Google Meat. It has 650 students, 22 classes, 30 teachers, 20 instructors and coordinators all connected virtually, so learning is not interrupted. We use Meet in the Future to connect students wherever they are.
Teachers and students help connect and interact with Google Classroom. Here are some tips for using the classroom in times of high demand. To avoid connectivity issues, consider posting classes and pre-recording posts in the classroom or use the Live Stream feature on Google Meet.
2.Create digital office hours
Digital office hours are a great way to see remote students still get individual support from their teachers. I use Google Calendar and Hangouts Meet to create digital office hours. Both tools simplify the management of hours together and create space for direct interaction between teacher and student in a distance learning situation.Here is my YouTube video that guides you through the Hangouts meeting and creating digital office hours with Google Calendar.
3.Use offline features to support students with limited or absent home Internet access
Students can learn remotely using offline features for Chromebooks, even if they have limited or absent Internet access at home. Our students can still access the unit offline and download video lessons from Google's classroom to see if they don't have the Internet at home.
4.Build a digital learning hub
Using Google Sites: A Simple Website Creation Tool You can create a central hub for resources, important updates and reminders that help keep students organized and keep parents and guardians in touch. Students can also use the sites to create digital portfolios and share their work with teachers, healthcare professionals and colleagues. Our teachers do a great job of using Google sites to keep parents and students up to date throughout the school year. Each team has its own dedicated site with important information and reminders, which helps them learn to stay on track.5.Provide individual guidance remotely
If a student is absent, has difficulty accessing the Internet or needs an update on how to do something, videos can be of great help, especially when students download and play them. With the Screencastify extension, it's easy to record your screen and share videos with students directly in the classroom. You can also use videos to explain new tools and techniques to help distance students. Here's how I used Screencasting to guide students who didn't participate in the assignment.
